Structure, Staff And The Process

SERVE has designed an organizational structure that is suitable to carry out the activities that are predominantly involved in the execution of the project. Considering the nature and range of activities to be undertaken, their geographic spread, the kind of personnel needed for the organization and their nature of association being contemplated with SERVE, it is proposed to establish an office at Hyderabad as its Head Quarters (H.Q).

And it is proposed to set up all branch offices gradually in a phased manner at some of the important locations in India according to a plan of action consistent with the overall strategy of implementation of the project.

HEAD QUARTERS: The Chairman and Managing Trustee would be based at the Head Quarters, duly assisted by a Manager, Accountant, Assistants and other supportive staff to carry out the administrative chores at the H.Q. as well as to coordinate and control the branch network. The search Groups as well as the study Groups also function under the overall supervision and guidance of the Chairman.

The Head Quarters conducts seminars, workshops, conferences etc. and publishes papers, booklets and books resulting from the research study. The H.Q. will equip itself adequately with appropriate furniture and fixtures to operate efficiently and effectively.

BRANCHES:

The locations for branches shall be selected based on their reputation for having good libraries, eminent scholars and central location. Over a period of five years, all the potential regions of the country would be fully explored to achieve the overall objectives of the organization. Effort will be made to identify and assign the concerned task to scholars and scientists located closer to the branch. The Sanskrit scholars are few and are scattered all over the country and indeed represent an endangered species, given the nature and level of expertise, scholarship and erudition needed for the project. The branch personnel have to deal with them with great care and tact, ignoring the expense and effort involved, so that the job is completed with utmost quality.

The branches shall be headed by an honorary coordinator assisted by an administrative assistant, with an office and necessary equipment and facilities to operate efficiently.

Search Group:

The Search Group is an integral part of the work force of SERVE and performs the most primary and fundamental task of identifying and collecting Vedic Science Sanskrit text books from various libraries, individuals and institutions in the area of their jurisdiction, for further study and analysis by experts. The search group mainly consists of Sanskrit-knowing scholars who travel extensively in their respective areas and identify the books useful to the mission of SERVE and pass them on to their Regional Coordinator and the Head Quarters as the case may be.

Book Study Group:

The book study group consists of Sanskrit scholars, as well as, experts such as scientists, engineers, technologists and other specialists. The Sanskrit scholars review original Sanskrit science textbooks and reduce them into operational essences consisting primarily of technical knowledge duly translating them into English, Hindi, Telugu or other local languages. The next step in the process involves scientists undertaking a comparative study of the gist prepared by the Sanskrit scholars and comparing them with the modern sciences. If any differences between the two Groups of scholars arises, either on concepts, comprehension or comparability, then group discussions between scientists and Sanskrit scholars will be arranged, to review the original texts once again and try to decode them accurately. Some of the scholars may need assistance in the form of secretarial and administrative help to render their services. While some of the Sanskrit scholars have to be retained on a contract basis, majority will be associated on voluntary basis. The academicians, scientists and technologists and specialists will be solely on voluntary basis at all the offices of SERVE.

Output:

It is proposed to bring out papers; booklets and books based on the study of the Vedic sciences, with particular emphasis on all subjects studied. It is also proposed to bring out Dictionaries on ancient technical terms related to different branches of Vedic sciences, to achieve the following objectives:

  • To facilitate the comprehension and study of Vedic texts quickly, efficiently and accurately.

  • To provide an insight into scientific terms and jargons found in scriptures.

  • To make the understanding and interpretation of Sanskrit text books standard and uniform.

The output would also consist of technical formulae, knowledge, tools and techniques duly tested and validated by modern scientists and technologists and ecologists and specialists wherever necessary, through laboratories of repute in such branches as medicine, agriculture, energy etc. The output is primarily intended for the use of the common man and societies across the world, in order to improve the lot of the people by offering inexpensive, pollution free alternative scientific options.

Seminars, Workshops and Conferences: It is proposed to hold seminars, workshops and conferences regularly every year in order to disseminate the information pertaining to the research on Vedic sciences, and to fulfill the following objectives:

  • To create general awareness and appreciation about the scientific information contained in the Vedic and related scriptures.

  • To attract and elicit opinion, critical comments and suggestions from the Sanskrit scholars and modern scientists in order to establish and validate the findings.

  • To widen the contacts with the scholars and modern scientists and encourage their participation in the projects of SERVE.

The material finalized through this process, will be placed on the website, for the information of the general public and to facilitate contribution and participation.
